CRAFTED podcast rebrands as FAFO with sharper future focused mission

Independent technologist and former NPR journalist Dan Blumberg has announced the rebrand of his three-time Webby Award-honoured podcast CRAFTED.

The new name, Future Around & Find Out, known as FAFO, marks a clear shift away from retrospective case studies towards forward-looking conversations designed to help builders navigate a technology landscape Blumberg describes as both exciting and unsettling.

Future Around & Find Out positions itself between the extremes that dominate much tech coverage, avoiding both pessimistic doomerism and venture capital-driven hype in favour of a more grounded, questioning approach.

Led by Blumberg’s journalistic background and his experience as a product management leader at LinkedIn, The New York Times, major banks and startups, the show is to help founders and product leaders think clearly about AI, emerging technologies and what to build next.

“Hey, you know what would be awesome? If we could build the future we want, before we f*ck it up,” Blumberg said. “We are building amazing things right now, but there’s also this dread a lot of us feel. The headlines say AI is either going to put us all out of work, kill us, or lead to heaven on Earth. I think we have the power to build the future we actually want.”

The new format will feature in-depth conversations with technologists, founders and innovators about what they are building and why it matters now.

Previous guests on the show include founders and senior product and technology leaders from Google, X, AWS, GitHub, Gusto, BNY Mellon, Khan Academy and a range of early-stage AI startups.

Alongside interviews, the podcast will explore the real-world implications of new technologies, helping builders understand how advances in AI are changing how people work, live, learn and launch companies.

While AI is a central focus, FAFO will also spotlight innovations that often receive less attention, including developments in deep tech, biotech, climate tech, robotics and quantum computing.

A regular segment titled FAFO Fridays will see Blumberg joined by futurist Kwaku Aning for a recap of the most surprising, strange and significant tech stories of the week.

upcoming guests including storyteller and technologist Baratunde Thurston, analyst and investor Azeem Azhar, entrepreneur Henrik Werdelin, Colossal Biosciences chief science officer Beth Shapiro and climate-tech founder Eben Bayer.

The new season officially launches on 3 February across all major podcast platforms and on YouTube.
