Parkinson’s UK launches new podcast Get Active Stay Active

A new podcast has been launched to help people with Parkinson’s build physical activity into daily life.

Parkinson’s UK has launched Get Active Stay Active, a 12-part series designed to support people living with the condition to embrace exercise and movement as part of their routine.

Delivered by specialist content creators 1FitLife, with input from the Parkinson’s community, each episode brings together healthcare and exercise professionals alongside guests with a connection to the condition.

The charity says being physically active is one of the most effective ways to live well with Parkinson’s, and for some can be as important as the right dose of medication.

Hosted by podcaster and broadcaster Denise Waterman, the series covers a range of practical topics, including how to get started, how to increase intensity safely, choosing suitable footwear and adapting nutrition. It will also challenge common myths around physical activity and Parkinson’s.

Anna Castiaux, Physical Activity Programme Lead at Parkinson’s UK, said: “We already know how important physical activity can be for someone with a neurological condition, including Parkinson’s.

“The ‘Get Active Stay Active’ podcast is ideal for anyone at any stage of their journey, be it those looking to increase their level of activity or people just needing the ideas and inspiration to get going.”

Anna added that each episode focuses on a key topic relating to physical activity and wellbeing when living with Parkinson’s.

Jessica Overton, Managing Director at 1FitLife, added: “We know that starting – or keeping up – an active lifestyle with Parkinson’s can feel daunting, our goal is to help you feel more confident, motivated and supported on your journey to staying active.”

The Get Active Stay Active podcast is available on most major podcast platforms.
