Audacy launches Family Lore podcast exploring truth behind tales

A new narrative podcast examining the truth behind family stories has been launched by Audacy.

Family Lore, hosted by Lloyd Lochridge, begins with well-known stories passed down through generations before investigating the historical facts behind them, asking how much of each tale is accurate.

Topics include the origins of the margarita, the story behind Rosie the Riveter, and whether a backyard invention influenced outdoor sports, with each episode following a single thread from anecdote to researched conclusion.

Lloyd Lochridge, Executive Producer of Narrative Originals at Audacy, leads the series, drawing on his experience producing documentary-style podcasts.

His previous work includes Gone South, which received an Edward R. Murrow Award, It Was Said with Jon Meacham, which won a Webby Award for Best Podcast, and Root of Evil, named by Rolling Stone as one of the top 25 true crime podcasts of all time.

Leah Reis-Dennis, Head of Podcasts at Audacy, said: “Great family stories we carry across generations invite us to question what’s real, what’s remembered, and what’s been reimagined over time.

“Family Lore brings that curiosity to life – blending rich storytelling with thoughtful historical investigation to uncover the truth behind the tales we pass down.”

Family Lore launches today, 8 April and will release new episodes weekly on Wednesdays across all podcast platforms.
