New True Crime: Dissected podcast explores world’s most shocking cases

A new weekly podcast is examining high profile crimes through psychological and investigative analysis.

True Crime: Dissected is produced by Like A Shot Entertainment with BriteSpark Films and hosted by journalist Paul Connolly alongside forensic psychiatrist Dr Sohom Das.

The series revisits major criminal cases and explores the motivations, social factors and long-term impact behind them.

Episode one, Hate Crimes: Golders Green and Charleston, looks at two racist attacks that happened 11 years apart in different countries.

The episode examines the attack in Golders Green on 29 April this year, when a 45-year-old Somalia born British man was charged with attacking two Jewish men with a knife.

Police declared it a terrorist incident and Counter Terrorism officers continue to lead the investigation.

The hosts also revisit the Charleston church shooting in South Carolina on 17 June 2015, when a 21-year-old white supremacist murdered nine black worshippers. He was later sentenced to death.

Paul and Sohom use the cases to explore the relationship between violent extremism, mental health and neurodivergence.

The discussion focuses on how isolation and ideology can influence so called lone wolf attacks and how they differ from organised terrorism.

The series will go beyond the details of each crime to examine wider societal issues and the lasting consequences for communities affected by violence.

Henry Scott, Managing Director of Like A Shot Entertainment, said: “This brand-new podcast blends the psychological expertise of Dr. Soham Das and the investigative insights of Paul Connolly, taking a new approach to explore the world’s most terrible crimes.”

True Crime: Dissected launches on 4 June across major podcast platforms, with new episodes released weekly.
