Guardian’s Football Weekly podcast will livestream a special video broadcast from New York City just days before the 2026 World Cup final.
The event marks the 20th anniversary of the podcast and coincides with the Guardian’s World Behind the Cup newsletter, which supports the publication’s coverage of the 2026 World Cup with 30 reporters across North America.
Football Weekly is consistently ranked in the top 20 of Apple’s US sports podcast chart, ahead of all other US soccer shows, and has been named one of the 100 Greatest Podcasts of All Time by Left of Dial.
The livestream will feature hosts Max Rushden and Barry Glendenning, who recently presented at SXSW 2026, alongside guest favourites from the Football Weekly video podcast, with the full line-up to be announced.
The show will be broadcast live from Bowery Ballroom in New York on Thursday, 16 July 2026, from 7:30pm to 9pm EDT (12.30pm to 2pm BST).
The event will offer smart, accessible analysis and a global perspective on the game, focusing on the World Cup and the wider football landscape.
A preview video is available and a player guide has been published to support listeners ahead of the event.
On-demand viewing will be available for four weeks after the livestream for those who purchase access.
Tickets for the livestream can be purchased at theguardian.com/footballweeklylive.
