A new investigative series tells the story of the unknown Nazi bureaucrat who helped to lay the legal path for the Holocaust and astonishingly became one of the architects of the modern German state.
The Stories of our times podcast is to broadcast a special new investigative series on Hans Globke, the Third Reich bureaucrat whose name many historians feel should be synonymous with the Nazi dictatorship – but is, remarkably, largely unknown today.
The Spider in the Web, presented by The Times’ Berlin Correspondent, Oliver Moody, is the product of months of research that Oliver has done in Germany looking at newly available archive material, revealing how a senior official in the Nazi regime, Hans Globke, crafted the laws that ultimately led to the Holocaust – and then, astonishingly, became the true architect behind the modern German state.
The series will air on Thursday 4 and Friday 5 March on the Stories of our times podcast feed and available wherever you get your podcasts. Both parts will also be broadcast on Times Radio at 8pm on Sunday 7 March.
