British LGBTQ+ podcast, A Gay And A Nongay has had its first win in a major international awards ceremony – at the 2025 Webby Awards in New York City.
Hosted by comedians James Barr and Dan Hudson, the podcast picked up the People’s Voice trophy in the category of Best Independent Podcast.
The 29th Annual Webby Awards honoured the year’s biggest Internet personalities, visionaries, and activists with a star-studded ceremony at Cipriani Wall Street. The award show was hosted by award-winning comedian, actor, advocate, and creator Ilana Glazer.
This year, there were nearly 13,000 entries from all 50 US states and over 70 countries worldwide.
Webby Awards Executive Director Jesse Feister, who celebrated his first Webby Awards in this new role, delivered remarks, reflecting on the chaotic state of the Internet in 2025, the importance of recognising self-made creators, and the critical moment we’re in for AI and creativity.
“What I love most about the internet is that it gives talented, self-made, creative people a way in. And tonight’s winners are proof of that,” Jesse said of the new emphasis on creators.
Launching in 2015, A Gay and A NonGay quickly became an essential listen for LGBTQ+ people and their friends, as hosts James Barr and Dan Hudson have torn down barriers between gays and nongays across over 400 episodes.
In that time, they have appeared on the front cover of Attitude magazine, released an acclaimed BBC TV documentary Sashay To Hell and even launched their own brand of LGBTQIPA beer, which raises money for trans charity Mermaids.
Recent guests have included Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, creators of the musical SIX, actor Elliot Page, Jamie Dornan, Tia Kofi and Eurovision winner Nemo.
James and Dan said: “We don’t agree on a lot, but one thing we can both agree on is how delighted we are to win a Webby Award. This is absolutely huge.”
