Platform Media has appointed Alex Watson to lead its entertainment and TV label, Listen, as the company expands its slate of original programming.
Alex takes charge of Listen’s original series development, beginning with The Buckleys – the hit show hosted by Clair and James Buckley, which has become one of Platform’s standout titles since its launch in November 2024.
He joins from Pixiu Podcasts, where he spent nine years as Head of Content, playing a central role in shaping the company’s creative and commercial direction.
During his time at Pixiu, Alex led a high-performing team and worked on major titles such as Fearless with Trinny Woodall, Happy Mum Happy Baby with Giovanna Fletcher, and Plot Twist for Sky.
At Listen, Alex will be responsible for growing the label’s entertainment slate and building on its early success.
The Buckleys has already attracted 7.2 million long-form plays across video and audio and regularly features in Spotify’s Top 10 Comedy chart. The show is built on unscripted chemistry between its hosts, with no guests or gimmicks.
In addition to his work in originals, Alex brings experience from branded podcast campaigns for brands including Audible, Spotify, The British Library, Penguin Books, NatWest, Virgin, Deezer and BT Sport.
Platform’s commercial team, which he now joins, was recently recognised at The Drum Marketing Awards 2025 for its work across partnerships and campaigns.
Alex says: “Platform Media’s merger with Listen and Goldhawk Productions marks it out as a supergroup in the UK content landscape. I’m incredibly excited to join this team at a time of such momentum and ambition – to help shape the next wave of standout shows.”
Darby Dorras, Chief Content Officer at Platform Media, says: “Listen has led the charge on premium entertainment formats, we’re thrilled to have Alex on board to support this next phase of growth.
“With a sharp commercial instinct and a deep understanding of the audio landscape, Alex will be instrumental in turning Listen’s hit original podcasts into powerful revenue drivers.”
