Acast wants podcast hosts to add visual descriptions

The campaign is taking place during UK Disability History Month.

Acast is encouraging its podcasters to open their shows with visual descriptions of the hosts for those who are visually impaired – as they don’t get to experience cover art or social media posts in the same way. This is in line with the company’s commitment to sharing the medium of podcasting with as many listeners as possible.

The podcast offers music-loving guests the chance to curate their own dream festival from start to finish.

First guest in the new series, Johnny Marr, is one of the most influential songwriters and guitarists in British independent music. Others lined-up to take part include Joe Lycett, Rag’n’Bone Man, Gaz Coombes and more!

The new season follows The Line-Up’s first ever live audience recordings, at Glastonbury and Latitude festival.

Podcast Radio enters content partnership with the National Trust

The agreement will see the station featuring podcasts about backpacking, cycle touring, walks, hikes and heritage houses.

Following the National Trust seeing and meeting Podcast Radio at the Podcast Show in London in May, the partnership was formed. The Trust is Europe’s largest conservation charity and looks after Britain’s nature, history and beauty.

The partnership will include interviews by one of Podcast Radio’s podjocks – US broadcast veteran Gene Baxter, a 30-year veteran of the KROQ morning show in Los Angeles.

The Indypod Census is the first research study aimed at better understanding the independent podcasting market.

It’s been set up by Scottish podcasting company The Podcast Host, who have also teamed up with other independent and international podcasts organisations across the industry to reach a wider demographic of podcasters. Partners include She Podcasts, Afros and Audio and CastNews Brazil.

The census is purposely concise to encourage a higher response rate.

The company was set up 10 years ago by James, who was frustrated with the recruitment industry, which he felt was too transactional.
