Season two of How To Get Wet When You’re Dry has launched with a focus on dating and relationships in sobriety.
Award-winning journalist Anna Wolfe returns to the podcast to examine what happens after getting sober, continuing her exploration of romance in recovery through conversations with celebrity guests, addiction specialists and people with lived experience.
Over the past two years, Anna has investigated unethical practices in UK addiction treatment and eating disorder services.
She brings that reporting background, alongside her own experience of recovery, to discussions that unpick how addiction shapes relationships long after alcohol or drugs are removed.
“My sobriety came from hearing other people tell the truth, not from someone pretending to have the answers,” Anna says. “Recovery introduced me to a kind of honesty I didn’t know existed. Shame dies when secrets are shared. Even if that secret is that you sh*t your pants on a first date.”
The new season asks questions often raised privately by people in recovery, including how to approach dating without alcohol, whether to pursue relationships with other addicts, and how to move on from past behaviour.
Episode one features Jameela Jamil, with further interviews combining personal accounts and expert insight.
Alongside these, Anna hosts Q and A editions with her friend in recovery, Sally O’Sullivan, a UKCP-accredited therapist specialising in addictions and compulsions, responding to listener dilemmas and a recurring “am I demented for this?” series of questions.
The show is available from today, 4 March on major podcast platforms and as a visualised format on Spotify, with new episodes released every Wednesday.
