History Hit highlights podcasts and new shows for March 2026

New podcast series and documentaries exploring figures from Julius Caesar to Anne Boleyn feature across History Hit’s platforms throughout March.

The History Hit streaming service, founded by historian Dan Snow, releases several new programmes this month alongside fresh podcast episodes across its network.

A documentary titled The Face of Anne Boleyn arrives on 12 March. Filmed at Hever Castle, the programme follows Professor Suzannah Lipscomb as researchers examine a portrait that may reveal new clues about the appearance of Anne Boleyn.

Later in the month, the service releases The Rise of Caesar on 15 March, timed to coincide with the anniversary of the Ides of March. Historians explore how Julius Caesar rose to become one of the most powerful figures in ancient Europe.

Another documentary, Bunkers – The Hidden Battle of Britain, launches on 26 March. In the programme, Dan joins researchers searching for secret underground hideouts built across the UK in preparation for a possible invasion by Adolf Hitler.

History Hit’s podcast network also introduces several themed series this month.

The flagship podcast Dan Snow’s History Hit begins a six-episode run called The Commanders which launched on 2 March.

The series examines the strategic decisions of Second World War military leaders including Bernard Montgomery, Erwin Rommel, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Isoroku Yamamoto and Georgy Zhukov.

On The Ancients, host Tristan Hughes speaks with Hannah Cornwell on 18 March in an episode asking what might have happened if Caesar had survived the Ides of March assassination attempt.

Other shows also release themed content throughout the month.

American History Hit explores the mythology and realities of the American frontier in a five-episode run hosted by Don Wildman.

Meanwhile Gone Medieval presents a four-part retelling of the Crusades with hosts Matt Lewis and Eleanor Janega.

Across the network, Betwixt the Sheets features a March series called Sex & Scandal in Hollywood’s Golden Era, hosted by Kate Lister, examining censorship battles and scandals surrounding early film stars including Charlie Chaplin.
