The APAs are back for their fifteenth year, celebrating those in the podcast, radio, audiobook and wider audio industries.
Organised by AudioUK and sponsored by Audible, the APAs celebrate outstanding work both behind the scenes and on the mic, with this year’s event promising more recognition, new categories and a continued commitment to accessibility.
Chloe Straw, CEO of AudioUK, says the awards have come a long way since they started as a modest gathering at the back of a pub, and now stand as a major celebration of audio talent at London’s BFI on the Southbank.
She said: “They celebrate the best of the podcast and audio industry – including radio and audiobooks – with a focus on the teams and producers behind some of your favourite shows.”
This year’s APAs feature twenty-three categories covering everything from Comedy, Factual and Drama to Sound Design and Audiobooks. The popular Little Ears category for children’s audio returns for a second year and will once again be judged by kids themselves.
Three new categories are being introduced: True Crime, to reflect the boom in that genre; Branded Content, for standout audio made for brands; and the Changemaker Award, honouring those making a real impact in audio or the wider community.
For the first time, most categories are now open to individual producers as well as teams, acknowledging the collaborative nature of today’s productions.
