British Podcast Awards entries for 2022 are now open
The British Podcast Awards, powered by Audible, are now open for entries until 11 April.
Thousands of podcasters will be trying to scoop ‘Podcast Of The Year’, as well as twenty individual trophies to suit all podcast audiences.
Over 150 judges will listen to an estimated 5,000 hours of entries to crown the winners. In previous years the awards were the first to champion George The Poet’s seminal series, as well as hits Griefcast and Dear Joan & Jericha.
The awards will be returning with an outdoor summer festival 22 to 24 July, with winners shooting up the charts as the awards are dished out.
The weekend will also include a new, one-day event aimed at new podcasters. GROW, curated by The British Podcast Awards, will take place on Friday 22 July.
Matt Hill, co-founder of the British Podcast Awards, said: “GROW will bring together podcasters who want to grow their podcast audiences, revenue and impact. We’ve brought together the best brains in the business to share their advice – and best of all, it’s free to podcasters who enter our Best New Podcast category.”
Returning again will be the public vote – the Listeners’ Choice – supported by Acast+. With over 150,000 votes last year, it’s the category that gets podcasters campaigning for votes on their shows and through social media.
Joining Audible, and Acast+, the partners for the 2022 British Podcast Awards include BBC Sounds, Amazon, Wondery, Podbible and Podfollow.
This year, ‘The Climate Award’ is introduced, which will celebrate the incredible work happening in podcasting to address the biggest challenge of our age.
Matt Deegan, co-founder of the British Podcast Awards, said: “We’re working with The Feast Collective to champion great initiatives both behind and in front of the mic. This isn’t just about green podcasts that are preaching to the converted – although their work is important – but also the comedy, current affairs and fiction series that are addressing these issues at their audiences too.”
As part of its ongoing diversity and outreach initiatives, the British Podcast Awards will continue to discount fees for independent and non-commercial podcasts – which make up the majority of the sector – and, for the first time, have teamed up with the Podcasting Seriously Fund, who will refund entry fees from independent BIPOC, Queer and Trans audio producers.
The deadline for the British Podcast Awards, Powered by Audible, is Tuesday 11 April at midday. Enter now at britishpodcastawards.com
The Listeners’ Choice supported by Acast+ will open for votes in June, with the winner crowned, alongside all of our other winners at the award ceremony on Saturday 23 July.
