Chair of Judges for 2023’s British Podcast Awards revealed

How To Fail’s Elizabeth Day will be the Chair of Judges for this year’s British Podcast Awards.

Named the British Podcast Awards’ Rising Star in 2019, Elizabeth’s hugely successful podcast How To Fail has since reached over 40 million downloads and she launched Best Friend Therapy with psychotherapist Emma Reed-Turrell in 2022.

The #1 Sunday Times bestselling author follows in the footsteps of Emily Maitlis and Jon Sopel, George The Poet, Dr Rangan Chatterjee and Miranda Sawyer.

Elizabeth Day says: “I’m really honoured to be chairing this year’s judging process. The UK podcast industry is very special: it’s a space for important, nuanced, insightful conversations but it also brings laughter and joy to millions. I’m so excited to hear the range and diversity of this year’s entries.”

When entries close on Thursday 18 May, over 150 judges will begin to decide who to shortlist. This year’s ceremony, in partnership with the podcast industry trade publication PodPod, will be hosted at HERE at Outernet in central London on Thursday 28 September.

As part of its ongoing diversity and outreach initiatives, the British Podcast Awards will continue to discount fees for independent and non-commercial podcasts – which make up the majority of the sector.

It is partnered with the Podcasting Seriously Fund, who provide entry fee support from independent BIPOC, Queer and Trans audio producers.

Elizabeth is calling for all podcasters to submit their entries to britishpodcastawards.com by Thursday 18 May at 23:59.
