Comedians Mary O’Connell and Sharlin Jahan have launched their debut podcast, Personality Quiz.
Each week, the hosts take a new quiz – from ‘Are You A Psychopath?’ to ‘Which Potato Are You?’ – in an attempt to get to know each other better by better knowing themselves, leading to both hilarious riffs and earnest revelation.
Mary, who has just won the world’s biggest prize fund in comedy by winning ‘OnlyFans Creative Fund: Comedy Edition’, says: “Every white man with an email address has a podcast, so why not us? What’s been so nice about doing this series is we’ve genuinely discovered new, interesting, kinda revelatory things about ourselves and each other. Every episode is fun; it’s always funny.”
Sharlin, who won Bronze in Bath Comedy Festival New Act Competition and was Finalist in the Funny Women Competition, adds: “We’re two very different comedians: Mary’s absurdist, cool, sardonic, while I’m…not. I’m this intense ball of intense over-eagerness with a sprinkle of intensity. Basically, we’ve got a strong ‘cat’ and ‘dog’ energy’ which we think people will like.”
Later on in the series, the hosts welcome fellow comedians from around the globe as guests. The first will be London-based Sri Lankan comedian and filmmaker Vidura BR (Semi-finalist: BBC New Comedy Awards, Finalist: Leicester Square New Act of the Year, Berlin Best New Comedian).
