Edith Bowman’s Play Next new music podcast returns for second series

After what has been a particularly challenging two years for musicians, and specifically new music artists, the Play Next podcast has returned for its second series.

Play Next, in partnership with BMW, is an ambitious podcast, hosted by DJ and TV presenter Edith Bowman, that uses fully licensed music to promote artists of the future. It offers a platform to support their talent, artistry and the world of music that so many of us have used as a lifeline during Covid.

Last year, the podcast went on to further support emerging artists by sponsoring a stage at All Points East festival, showcasing the hottest future headliners including Elkka, Tyson, Aziya, Alewya, Swim School and Scors.

The first episode of the second series is out now and features SOAK – the youngest artist to be nominated for a Mercury award – and Jonathan Higgs, the frontman of art-rock band Everything Everything, who chats to Edith on his use of AI in creating his latest album, Raw Data Feel.

Created to offer upcoming artists a platform for their music in a year when the live music scene looked unstable. Play Next will be doing the same and more this year – the first episode is available on all podcast platforms.
