Eleanor Thompson narrates Leanne Slade’s new romance audiobook on Audible

Leanne Slade, Audible UK’s biggest-selling romance author, returns this month with a brand-new audio romcom narrated by Poldark star Eleanor Thompson.

The summer romance, The Return of Ruby Darling, follows social media star Ruby Darling as her perfectly curated life unravels.

After a very public breakup and career meltdown, Ruby flees to New Zealand to find her estranged father and unexpectedly reunites with childhood best friend Nate Andrews.

Inspired by the astrological event known as Saturn Return, which is associated with dramatic life changes in your late twenties, the story blends heartbreak, self-discovery, and slow-burn romance.

It’s a cosmic coming-of-age journey for a character whose entire identity was built around followers, filters and luxury getaways.

“Now single, jobless and soon-to-be homeless, Ruby believes she’s cursed until an app reveals she’s in her Saturn Return,” the official description teases. “With nothing to lose, she returns to the New Forest and soon finds herself driving across rural New Zealand in a broken-down campervan, with the best friend she once left behind.”

Alongside its romantic storyline, the book offers a fun and emotional reflection on personal growth, self-trust and starting over.

Leanne Slade’s previous release The Glitch, starring Sam Claflin and Daisy Edgar-Jones, was Audible’s 2024 Book of the Year and is currently under option to be made into a film with Searchlight Productions.

The Return of Ruby Darling is available exclusively on Audible from 8 August.
