Film, TV, Broadway and audio personalities star in new comedy podcast

Next Chapter Podcasts has launched its first original scripted comedy series, In The Cards, with a cast of actors from across film, TV, Broadway and audio.

Among those appearing in the series, which is launching today, are breakout podcast star Connor Ratliff, marking his return to audio on the heels of his successful and multiple award-winning podcast series, Dead Eyes.

Chukwudi Iwuji (Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy), Tony Award nominee Steven Boyer (Hand to God, Kimberly Akimbo), Jamie Ann Romero (The Play That Goes Wrong) and Laila Robins (The Walking Dead). The series is written and directed by Kevin Henderson (Raising Hope, Avatar: The Way of Water).

In The Cards is an eight-episode comedy romance that follows Gil Garson (Ratliff), a low-level ad man who strives to win at life. But ever-optimistic Gil has one very big problem: he is literally fated by the universe to always lose. Once he meets Nadya (Romero), the beautiful niece of a seductive psychic (Robins), he vows to change his fate.

Kevin Henderson says: “As a professional actor and writer based in Los Angeles, I’ve had more than a few moments when I thought, ‘I must be cursed by the gods’. Then I invented Gil Garson, who literally has never won at anything.”

Michael Goodfriend, Head of Scripted Fiction at Next Chapter Podcasts commented: “Our incredible cast will have you in stitches as you listen to Kevin Henderson’s hilariously quirky story.

“We couldn’t have dreamed of finding a better actor to lead this series than Connor Ratliff. As a proven podcast star who took on Tom Hanks in his own quest to change his fate, Connor literally brings a lifetime of experience to the role of Gil.”

Next Chapter Podcasts Founder and CEO Jeremiah Tittle added: “At Next Chapter, we strive to ask meaningful questions in entertaining ways: Why are we here? Can we change our destiny? What’s worth fighting for (or against)?

“In the Cards is a funny, engaging, and thought-provoking series that sneaks up on you with its depth, while pulling at your heartstrings, and it’s a fantastic addition to our rapidly expanding content library.”

New episodes of In the Cards are released each Wednesday on all podcast platforms including Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
