Handsome, the hit podcast from comedians Tig Notaro, Fortune Feimster and Mae Martin, has joined the comedy podcast network Headgum.
This comes as the podcast achieves 20 million listens in just over one year.
Ad sales for Handsome are managed through Gumball, the Headgum-owned marketplace for advertisers to buy host-read ads directly from podcasters.
The team will also start to record video episodes from Headgum’s LA studio semi-regularly in the coming months.
Each episode features real-life friends Notaro, Feimster, and Martin attempting to answer a deceptively simple and silly question from a guest including names like Tom Hanks, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon, Hannah Berner, Gabrielle Union, and many more.
Questions include “What do you do when you see that someone has a giant booger in their nose?,” from Drew Barrymore, “What is the best compliment you’ve ever received?,” from Nikki Glaser, “Do you like horror movies?,” from Paul Giamatti, and many other questions that the hosts use as jumping off points for anecdotes, jokes, and even some useful insights about humanity.
Upcoming guests include Abby Wambach, Molly Shannon, Nelly Furtado and Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone.
Tig Notaro, Fortune Feimster, and Mae Martin said: “We donned our three-piece podcasting suits and launched Handsome a year ago with a very silly question about washing private parts.
“Since then, our topics have ranged from the deeply heartfelt to the utterly nonsensical. Our handsome listeners keep asking for more, and we’re delighted to deliver. We’re thrilled to bring Handsome to Headgum and do even more for our audience.”
Headgum VP of Content, Kaiti Moos commented: “The Handsome trio of Tig, Fortune and Mae is magical and unmatched in the comedy podcast world.
“We’re thrilled that the show is now joining us at Headgum as we look to grow the show further and support them in production, marketing and sales, partnerships, and more. We know that Headgum listeners are going to be all in on Handsome.”
Handsome launched independently in August 2023. It has since gained a dedicated following and continues to climb up the comedy charts. The series began rolling out bonus episodes titled Pretty Little Episodes, in which they answer listener questions, in August. The podcast has hosted live shows in LA and Toronto, including Dynasty Typewriter’s bestselling live-stream ever.
The podcast has been announced as the Listener’s Choice Winner for Craft‑Best Co‑Host Team in the 2024 Signal Awards today and the first Handsome episode under the Headgum banner is also released today.
