History Daily podcast marks 1000 episodes of making every day historic

Acclaimed podcast History Daily is celebrating its 1000th episode today, 4 February.

The podcast has turned the simple concept of “this day in history” into a daily ritual for both history enthusiasts and those who never thought they’d find themselves fascinated by the past.

“When Lindsay and I first met in 2021, we joked about how impossible it would be to produce a daily scripted history podcast,” recalls Pascal Hughes, CEO of Noiser. “Fast forward four years, and here we are, reaching our one-thousandth episode. I am in awe of Lindsay and the team’s passion, dedication and hard work.”

Since its launch in November 2021, History Daily has achieved over 68 million downloads with its concept that history isn’t just a collection of dates and facts – it’s a mirror reflecting our shared human experience.

Host Lindsay Graham, backed by the production teams at Airship and Noiser, transforms historical moments into twenty-minute audio experiences that make the past feel like the present.

“Each episode is a masterclass in storytelling,” Hughes continues, “seamlessly blending immersive sound design, evocative music, and meticulously researched scripts to bring key historical moments vividly to life.

“It’s been an absolute joy to witness this idea grow into something that has become a meaningful part of so many people’s daily lives.”

The podcast’s approach, showing how our ancestors’ struggles and triumphs echo our own, has earned it a devoted following, including Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds, who was so taken with the show that he guest-narrated a special April Fool’s episode.

With a 4.6-star average rating from over 5,000 listeners and a nomination for Best History Podcast at the 2023 iHeart Podcast Awards, History Daily shows that the past doesn’t have to feel distant.

“A thousand episodes represents a thousand opportunities to remind people that something incredible happened, every day,” says host Lindsay Graham, who is also CEO of Airship. “We’re not just telling stories about what happened then – we’re helping listeners understand why those moments matter now.”

History Daily is a co-production of Airship in the USA and Noiser in the UK, distributed by Wondery. Episodes are released every weekday and available wherever you get your podcasts.
