Immersive experience for audiobooks at Cheltenham Literature Festival
Penguin Random House Audio will offer a free listening experience at Cheltenham Literature Festival, bringing to life four bestselling BBC audiobooks.
The publisher will host this experiential marketing stunt between 4-13 October in the historic bandstand at the heart of the festival in Montpellier Gardens.
The BBC Audiobooks immersive listening experience allows festivalgoers to enjoy four stories: Winnie-The-Pooh: The Complete BBC Collection, Sherlock Holmes: The Complete BBC Collection, Blackadder: The Complete Collected Series and The Jane Austen BBC Radio Drama Collection.
Each section features seating, artwork, set dressing and speakers incorporated into interactive props. Festivalgoers can try on Sherlock Holmes’ deerstalker hat, pick up Blackadder’s war bunker telephone, sit next to Winnie-the-Pooh’s honey pot and wear a Jane Austen-style bonnet to hear snippets of these classics.
Jan Paterson, Director of Books and Audiobooks publishing at BBC Studios said: “Our innovative listening experience became a real crowd-pleaser at Harrogate, sparking conversation and driving word-of-mouth among guests, authors and influencers alike.
“We are therefore delighted to bring it to Cheltenham Literature Festival and engage even more new listeners with our incredible range of bestselling BBC Audiobooks.”
