Independent Podcast Awards 2026 open entry for fourth edition

The Independent Podcast Awards 2026 are now open for entry with new categories added this year.

The fourth edition brings 28 categories as organisers continue to spotlight independent shows created outside traditional studio and sponsor pressures.

The awards, co-founded by Verbal Diorama and whynow in 2023, were established to recognise podcasts made in spare time and informal production spaces without commercial constraints shaping output.

Since launching, the awards have received more than 1400 entries, shortlisted over 500 podcasts and recognised 75 winners.

Last year, Shelley & The Can Do Kids, hosted by Josie Taylor and Jemma Morphet, took the Independent Podcast of the Year crown and also won the Children & Young Adult Podcast of the Year category.

Emma Turner, Co-Founder of the Independent Podcast Awards said: “These awards were designed to celebrate the smaller indie shows that make up around 75 percent of the podcast industry in the UK.

“Many people may think that their show isn’t good enough to win an award, and they’re exactly the people we want to enter. We’re here to shine a light on the indies making great content in a big pool.”

This year’s programme includes 28 categories, with two new additions for 2026 focusing on Regional Podcast and Limited Series, aimed at recognising storytelling beyond major cities and productions delivered across a small number of episodes.

Organisers are also seeking judges to help review entries and select nominees and winners, with an open call for industry professionals to put themselves forward for consideration.

Acast, Advertising Week Europe, Kings Place, Podnews and Rusty Quill are already confirmed as supporters of this year’s event.

Entries close on Monday 8 June, with the ceremony scheduled for Wednesday 4 November at Kings Place in Kings Cross, London, and further event details to follow nearer the time.
