Jane Garvey and Fi Glover end BBC podcast as they join Times Radio

Broadcasters Jane Garvey and Fi Glover are to end their hit BBC podcast Fortunately as they move to Times Radio.

The podcast, which launched in 2017, takes a look behind the scenes of broadcasting with guests from radio, TV and podcasting sharing stories they probably shouldn’t.

Across almost 250 weekly episodes and 30 million downloads, the pair have been praised for their open discussions of sometimes taboo subjects. It was the third most downloaded podcast on BBC Sounds in 2021, behind Newscast and You’re Dead to Me.

Fortunately with Jane and Fi is expected to continue until the end of the year.

With their move to Times Radio, Garvey and Glover will host an afternoon programme on the station from 3-5pm, Monday to Thursday starting Monday 10 October. Although the pair have worked extensively at the BBC on both 5 Live and Radio 4, it will be the first time they have broadcast a live news programme together.

Their new role will also include hosting a brand-new regular podcast together. More details about it will be announced in due course.

Jane and Fi’s move from the BBC to commercial radio is the latest in a long line of stars jumping ship, including the likes of Vanessa Feltz, Simon Mayo, Emily Maitlis and Andrew Marr.

Jane Garvey said: “I’ve had a brilliant time working for the BBC. Now I’m delighted to be joining the award-winning team at Times Radio. We can’t wait to get started on a live mix of illuminating conversation, topical interviews and occasional carping.”

Fi Glover added: “It’s been an amazing 29 years with the BBC. But I am so looking forward to bringing Times Radio listeners some extraordinary stories from some extraordinary people with Jane.”
