Award-winning writer and actor Lena Dunham is bringing her acclaimed podcast The C-Word to all major platforms, after signing a new partnership with Audacy Podcasts.
Co-hosted with writer and curator Alissa Bennett, the show explores how culture has long labelled women as “crazy” and why those labels still matter.
The move takes the series outside its previous paywalled home on Luminary and opens it up to a global, ad-supported audience.
Starting 31 July, the first three episodes will be re-released for free across all podcast platforms. New episodes from the original run will be released every Thursday until the archive is complete.
“We’re thrilled to bring her out of the vault and into the hearts of listeners everywhere,” say Dunham and Bennett. “These stories are just as resonant today as when we first told them.”
The podcast dives into the lives of women like Lindsay Lohan, Judy Garland, Mariah Carey, Winona Ryder, Lisa Nowak, Janet Cooke and Chyna, blending pop culture, history and media analysis with empathy and sharp humour.
Leah Reis-Dennis, Head of Podcasts at Audacy, said: “Lena and Alissa’s fearless and funny storytelling makes The C-Word as great today as it was when they first created it. This partnership reflects Audacy’s continued investment in creator-led storytelling.”
The C-Word originally launched in 2019 and quickly drew critical acclaim for its mix of deep research and cultural critique.
Audacy now takes on sales and distribution, offering new reach and monetisation for the series.
