Libsyn opens video podcast publishing across all hosting plans

Video podcast distribution is now available to all Libsyn creators, expanding how shows can be published and monetised.

Liberated Syndication Inc. has rolled out video publishing across its entire hosting platform, allowing creators to distribute both audio and video content from a single account. The update includes direct publishing to Spotify using its Distribution API, available from today.

The move means podcasters using Libsyn can now upload video episodes alongside audio, without switching providers or workflows. Distribution to YouTube is also supported, with integration for Apple Podcasts expected to follow.

This change reflects a wider shift in podcast consumption, as platforms invest more heavily in video formats. Libsyn said its approach is to make video tools available to all users rather than limiting access to selected creators or larger networks.

Brendan Monaghan, President and CEO of Libsyn, said: “We view video as a natural progression for podcasting – it gives creators more ways to engage audiences, deepen storytelling, and grow their businesses. Creators don’t want to choose between audio or video, or between platforms.”

He added that the company’s strategy is focused on enabling creators to publish widely while maintaining simple workflows and consistent monetisation options.

Spotify’s ongoing development of native video features, including its Partner Program and Distribution API, has accelerated adoption across the industry. Libsyn’s integration allows creators to access those tools without migrating their hosting.

The company said it is supporting cross-platform publishing at scale while keeping costs and complexity manageable for independent creators. It also confirmed it is working with Apple on its upcoming HLS video rollout, which will further extend distribution options once available.
