Little Dot Studios has opened a new in-house podcast and video studio in London to support History Hit’s move to full video production.
The new facility at the All3Media-owned company’s headquarters will bring together History Hit’s talent, production and post-production teams in one location.
It has been designed to help increase output as podcasting continues to shift towards video and distribution across multiple platforms including social media, FAST channels and subscription services.
The studio features a multi-camera setup, interchangeable backdrops and adaptable lighting. It also includes monitor systems for remote guests and a dedicated control room for live production and technical direction.
History Hit currently produces eight ongoing podcast brands, releasing 16 episodes each week. Last year, the network delivered more than 800 episodes, mainly as audio shows.
By the end of this year, History Hit expects to produce more than 1,000 episodes annually, with every episode available in full video.
Existing titles including After Dark, Dan Snow’s History Hit and The Ancients are already being made in video and will move into the new studio.
Steve Lanham, Head of Podcasts at History Hit, said: “As podcasts expand across video and new platforms, we’re able to reach new audiences while continuing to serve our core listeners.
“This new studio allows us to bring our teams and talent together in one space, giving us greater creative control while maintaining the quality our audience expects.”
Alex Hryniewicz, Managing Director, Network Social Platforms at Little Dot Studios, said the investment supports History Hit’s growth and creates a flexible production space for Little Dot Studios and its subsidiaries, including History Hit and WING.
The studio is now operational and will be used for future podcast and video projects.
