Navigating Now from The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award launches new episodes

Building on the success of the first eight episodes, two new episodes of the Navigating Now podcast are set to launch.

From The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, the podcast helps young people explore answers to the big questions they have about life.

Co-created together with seven Duke of Edinburgh’s Award participants aged 14-24 years, and award-winning production and promotion company, Mags Creative, the two new episodes cover issues ranging from the cost-of-living crisis and the pressures of becoming an adult to global issues and how to know what news to trust.

Each episode is narrated by Elsie, a 16-year-old architect-to-be who has completed her Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and hosted by three young people.

Together, they explore and comment on two big questions each episode as they listen to suggestions and advice sent in from celebrities and experts.

Episode one features Abi (15) from Lisburn, Northern Ireland, Craig (22) from Berkshire and Katrina (22) from South London.

Being at different stages of life and from different parts of the UK, the hosts discuss the two big questions: “What is the cost-of-living crisis and what does it mean for us as young people?”, and “How can I manage the pressures of becoming an adult in the UK today?”.

Guests include broadcaster, online content creator and disability activist Lucy Edwards and chef and TV presenter Matt Tebbutt.

The second episode is hosted by Onyii (19) from Glasgow, Anika (16) from Bristol and Craig (22) from Berkshire, who discuss the two big questions: “How can I make my voice heard on global issues?”, and “With so much going on in the world, how do I know what news to trust?”.

It features contributions from guests including BBC presenter and foreign correspondent Clive Myrie and broadcaster, author and journalist Vick Hope.

Narrator Elsie says: “I wanted to get involved with these bonus episodes of the podcast because they offer a unique opportunity to delve deeper into topics that truly resonate with the hopes, fears and priorities of my generation; topics that thanks to Youth Voices 2024, I know are mutual concerns and aspirations for other young people.

“Getting involved allowed me to share my opinion and insights on widely discussed issues with a broader audience, enriching the podcast experience for listeners.”

The two new episodes of Navigating Now launch on Wednesday 28 August on all podcast platforms.
