A new video/audio podcast aimed at clinical directors, commissioners, and GP partners who are competent at remote consultations but want to learn more about how video can be used in different healthcare specialities and settings has been launched.
It’s also for GPs who want to become more confident at managing remote consultations.
The Remote Consultation Masterclass, hosted by Dr Dane Vishnubals, is a free educational podcast for health professionals launched by health tech company Arc Health and Doctors.net.uk, the UK’s leading online community of doctors
The focus of the first season will be managing patients via video or telephone, with a focus on different healthcare specialities.
Each episode will feature an interview with an expert in their respective field, sharing their key insights and tips.
Guests so far include Dr Roger Neighbour (Former President of the Royal College of General Practitioners), Dr Anthony Waring (Doctor at Fulham Football Club) and Dr Alex Maxwell (Director of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine).
Dr Dane Vishnubala, host of the podcast said: “As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, more doctors are triaging and treating patients remotely via video or phone calls, in order to protect staff and patients from infection. With this podcast, we wanted to create an educational resource where we can hear advice directly from health experts and video consultation veterans, as well as provide listeners with nuggets of information for their CPD.”
Ria Carruthers, Head of Community at Doctors.net.uk added: “When we spoke with Arc Health about partnering to develop the Remote Consultation Masterclass series, we saw a great opportunity to support GPs with practical video and podcast-based education on how to get the best out of remote consultations.
“We have been delighted at how GPs have responded to the series so far and look forward to creating more of these timely and valuable educational resources with Arc Health, for both Doctors.net members and the wider healthcare community.”
A new episode featuring Dr Rebecca Robinson from the Centre for Health & Human Performance is available from today, Friday 27 November.
Remote Consultation Masterclass is on all major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts and Spotify, and the video version is uploaded to YouTube.
