New podcast from football loving indie drummers launches

Indie rock drummers and football fans Chris “Woody” Wood of Bastille and Piers Hewitt from The Boxer Rebellion have launched a new podcast, Away Days.

The pair have been touring non-stop for almost two decades and as lifelong fans of football teams Plymouth Argyle (Woody) and Southend United (Piers), they have also spent the last two decades on the road taking every opportunity to watch their beloved clubs.

Away Days with Woody and Piers sees them sit down with celebrity football fans to explore the joys and pains that come with watching their team on the road.

Everything from cross-country journeys and camaraderie in the stands to the pies, pints and bad performances.

The launch episode released today, Tuesday 10 September, features Helen ‘Hells Bells’ Chamberlain, the Torquay United fan best known as presenting Soccer AM on Sky Sports for 22 years – who has reunited with her old colleagues for the new Soccer A-Z podcast.

Other guests in the first season include Capital Breakfast host Chris Stark (Watford); comedian Chloe Petts (Crystal Palace); Starsailor singer James Walsh (Liverpool); podcaster and Quickly Kevin star Chris Scull (West Ham); and You Me At Six singer Josh Franceschi (Arsenal).

The podcast is from Lock It In Studio, the team behind breakthrough podcast quiz Guestimators, founded in May by Andy Bush, the voice of Hometime on Absolute Radio; former VP, Content Development at Universal Music, Will Nichols and Matt Cutler, the sports journalist behind the documentary The Pirates vs The Premier League.

Away Days with Woody and Piers is distributed on the Sport Social Podcast Network.
