A new podcast aims to reveal the raw truths behind modern breakups, power battles and the family court system in the US.
Nearly half of marriages in the United States end in divorce, but what really happens after the papers are signed?
lovelustlaw is hosted by Michele Locke, a former Associate Family Court Judge and experienced family law litigation attorney, alongside podcast producer Jake Deptula, known for Strictly Stalking and lovelustfear.
Locke brings more than 22 years of courtroom experience, both as a judge and a practising attorney, giving a perspective on cases most people never see.
“Most people don’t realise how brutal family court can be,” says Locke. “This podcast is about shining a light on what really goes down behind closed doors – the failures, the flaws, the heartbreak and the realities of family law litigation.”
Deptula says Locke’s insights in their previous podcast lovelustfear left listeners wanting more detailed legal analysis without sugarcoating.
“Michele’s insights on lovelustfear episodes blew people away,” Deptula says. “With lovelustlaw, we’re giving her a platform to go even deeper – with sharp legal analysis, survivor empathy and no sugarcoating.”
The series promises to go beyond typical divorce podcasts, positioning itself as a forensic breakdown of cases in the news and those never reported.
Episodes will examine public breakups and their legal fallout through Locke’s lens as an experienced family court insider.
Topics include the shifting public perception of Brad Pitt across his divorces from Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie, the legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, and the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial.
The podcast will also discuss the dangers of toxic relationships, abuse of the litigation process, and how betrayal, violence and emotional warfare are navigated inside and outside courtrooms.
Deptula’s production background in impactful true crime and survivor storytelling blends with Locke’s direct, no-nonsense courtroom commentary to create what they describe as an unflinching listen.
lovelustlaw launches on 1 July on all major platforms including Apple and Spotify.
