New podcast mini-series celebrates 25 years of Sliding Doors
The Sliding Doors podcast is launching a new four-part mini-series to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the iconic 90s film.
The podcast delves into those decisions and moments that change the course of our lives. The mini-series will celebrate the film with some exclusive, behind the scenes stories and audio footage.
Guests including Laura Whitmore, Bradley Walsh, Rachel Stevens and Steven Bartlett will share their sliding doors moments and what the film means to them.
Jennie Becker, founder and host of Sliding Doors podcast, says: “I am beyond excited to be launching this mini-series, in partnership with TfL, to mark the 25th anniversary of Sliding Doors.
“An iconic film that has truly stood the test of time, this series will bring the cast and crew members together and provide them with an opportunity to take an overdue trip down memory lane with our listeners.
“Now a catchphrase used across the globe, we will discuss the ripple effect that ‘Sliding Doors’ has had beyond Gwenyth’s iconic haircut and hear some behind the scenes stories!”
Peter Howitt, writer and director of Sliding Doors, says: “I can’t believe it has been 25 years since we released Sliding Doors!
“It was the first film I ever wrote and directed, and I am so proud and excited to be celebrating this anniversary and bringing together some of the brilliant people who played such a crucial part in making it.
“It is quite incredible to think that one innocuous ‘Sliding Doors moment’ I had in my life almost 30 years ago created a term that is now used every day around the world. Sliding Doors has a very special place in my heart and Jennie Becker’s podcast series is a great way for other people to share their Sliding Doors moments.”
The mini-series is being launched in partnership with Transport for London in celebration of the Tube’s 160th Anniversary. There will be a bonus episode where Andy Lord, Transport Commissioner, talks about his Sliding Doors Moment and Tube160 celebrations.
TfL will also be asking its employees and customers for their own sliding doors moments over the years, which will be released together as a special episode in June.
Andy Lord, London’s Transport Commissioner, says: “I’m honoured to be a guest on the Sliding Doors podcast in a very special episode inspired by the 160th anniversary of the Tube.
“This podcast episode is part of activities on the network throughout 2023, celebrating the role of London Underground as the lifeblood of the city. The partnership is inspired by the central role of the Tube in the film of the same name and represents the role of the Tube in the lives of Londoners, connecting them with opportunities in life.”
The new series will be available from 1 May on all major podcasting platforms, with a new episode released each day that week.
