New podcast tells true tales of unconventional modern dating
Accidentally MILF: Online Dating Adventures After 50 is a new podcast following the dating adventures of a British journalist living in Los Angeles.
She unexpectedly finds herself looking for love online in her fifties after she discovers her cheating husband in the clutches of another woman.
After almost 20 years of marriage, Angel Bliss – as she is known in the series as her identity is being kept under wraps – is back in the dating game. But is she ready for the perks and perils of modern digital dating?
Not being familiar with age settings, Angel swiped right on the men she found attractive – and consequently was accidentally classified as a MILF – as the majority of her matches were a good 20 years younger than her.
Genuinely intrigued by the prospect of dating younger men, rather than bowing to convention and casting them aside in the hunt for someone more age-appropriate, being the journalist she is, Angel decided to meet some of these men, became thoroughly immersed in the process and documented her often raunchy experiences from the start of her dating journey.
In each episode, Angel goes on a different date, all of which land her in a bizarre situation. Her dates included a go-go dancer, a stand-up comedian who told filthy jokes, a serial conman and a man who begged to be her slave.
Angel’s candid and deeply personal audio journal entries – recorded in real time – make for an intimate insight into the mindset of a woman determined to not let her dating choices be dictated by convention.
Joining her throughout the series is her very first Tinder date, Johnny Two Ts – the Go-go Dancer – who gives the younger male perspective and also has many bizarre online dating stories to share.
Together in the studio, the duo lift the lid on age-gap dating and hook-up culture, even inviting some of Angel’s former dates as well as members of the public to share their experiences on air to look back and share tips for navigating the modern online dating world to help others learn from her experiences and the many mistakes she made.
The podcast has already won nine awards ahead of its official launch – a Davey Gold Award, a W3 Gold Award and seven Communicator Awards.
