Andi and Miquita Oliver, the mother-daughter duo, are leaving their kitchen table to head on the road for season five of their podcast, Stirring It Up.
Best known for their conversations around food, culture and the human experience, the new series sees them on a cultural journey across Scotland to reconnect with family, catch up with old friends and make new ones along the way.
Miquita, who is half Scottish, will be learning more about her heritage and is joined by Andi on this new journey.
In the first episode, Miquita reconnects with her Scottish father, Robin, as they visit Gordon Nicolson Kiltmaker store in Edinburgh to learn more about her family’s tartan and the influences kilts have had on fashion today.
Andi also identifies the cultural similarities with her Caribbean background, as she understands the importance of being able to learn and share your own history as they visit the oldest original building on the Royal Mile, The John Knox House, where they preserve Scotland’s most instrumental stories and traditions.
The pair will be connecting with locals over their love for food and drink. They meet Great British Menu’s Roberta Hall at her restaurant, The Little Chatroom, for a family dinner and also take a trip to Aberdeenshire Highland Beef to learn more about Scottish premium produce.
There’s also a visit to the famous Loch Ness, that houses Scotland’s smallest craft distillery, The Great Glen Distillery.
In addition to meeting some of Scotland’s leading female entrepreneurs helping to make Scotland thrive such as the founder of women’s football club, Glasgow City FC, Laura Montgomery, an independent team that champions women and strives for equality and fashion designer, Siobhan Mackenzie, who reinvents tartan classics such as kilts, tailoring and accessories into contemporary styles.
Andi and Miquita Oliver say: “From our kitchen table to the road – covering over 435 miles of the magical land of Scotland. We’re so excited to be taking Stirring It Up out into the world.
“It’s been so rewarding having this opportunity to experience Miquita tracing back her roots and connecting with her heritage. From the architectural beauty of Edinburgh to the awe-inspiring views of the Highlands, talking to extraordinary people and eating with friends old and new.
“Get ready for a brand-new series like never heard before, as we share the importance of learning who you are and where you come from.”
