Patreon has launched its first podcast network partnership programme where select podcasts from Sony Music and Wondery will be available.
It will provide access to enterprise-level product features, data, and insights; network discovery tools; and co-marketing opportunities (e.g. launch campaigns, live fan events and show tapings, creative strategy, etc.) to increase the options creators have to reach fans.
Each show available from Sony Music and Wondery will offer exclusive media and fan experiences. Patreon will host a selection of podcasts from each network, and help them release exclusive media, offer new fan perks, and unlock additional revenue streams.
Wondery shows Scamfluencers, Killer Psyche, and Kurt Krömer – Feelings, are live on Patreon from today.
Sony Music shows Getting Better with Jonathan Van Ness, This is History, and Lipstick on the Rim are coming soon to Patreon.
Patreon says: “With more 6.7 million paid memberships in the podcasting category alone, making podcasting the highest earning category on Patreon, we see a ton of fan engagement from podcast communities on Patreon, and we’re continuing to build for independent podcasters and networks alike.”
In addition to the network partnership, the company has announced new/upcoming podcast-specific product products and tools that will be available to all Patreon creators:
- Podcasts will soon be able to host all their entire catalogue (free and paid episodes) on Patreon, through RSS syncing and importing, to deepen on-platform fan discovery and engagement.
- For creators with multiple shows, it’ll be even easier to start, organise, and manage multiple shows all from one account. Fans can also subscribe to a super-feed with all shows in one feed.
- There are now more ways for podcasts to sell and earn from their shows with the upgraded collections feature. Creators can package episodes together for a one-time purchase, making it easier for shows to sell collections as series or seasons.
