CMG Productions and Stak have partnered to turn podcast ideas into global multi-platform content.
A slate of original podcasts focused on sport and crime will be co-developed by the two companies, with plans to expand successful ideas into both scripted and unscripted formats.
The agreement brings together CMG Productions’ experience in international production with Stak’s track record in narrative podcasting. Both companies say the goal is to build projects that can move beyond audio into television and other formats.
Four projects have already been selected for the initial slate. These stories will cover locations including the UK, US, South Africa and Latin America, and are currently in development while discussions continue with platforms and commissioners.
CMG Productions will lead on wider content strategy, adapting each project for different genres and formats. The companies say this approach is designed to create a long-term pipeline of intellectual property that can work across multiple platforms.
Claire McArdle, Co-CEO of CMG Productions, said: “It was clear from our first conversations with Stak that we were aligned on how to tell these captivating stories in the sport and crime space. We’re delighted to be working with their team to make that happen.”
Stak, known for titles including The Football Ramble and Legacy, brings experience in building large podcast audiences alongside award-winning narrative series. Its recent work includes productions recognised at the NYC Podcast Awards and Sports Journalism Awards.
Nicky Anderson, Head of Narrative at Stak, said: “Working with CMG is an exciting new venture for us, and one we’re really looking forward to building on.”
CMG Productions has previously worked with platforms including Netflix, Sky and ITV, producing documentaries across sport and true crime. The new partnership signals a shared focus on developing stories that can travel internationally and extend beyond podcast audiences.
