Pods Up North to hold online legal masterclass for podcasters

Pods Up North, which runs an annual conference and a series of events to support and celebrate podcasters, is to hold an online masterclass on the legal implications and considerations when making your podcast.

Although there are very few rules when it comes to making podcasts, it doesn’t mean podcasters are above the law.

Presented by top digital and media lawyer Cliff Fluet, Pods Up: Get Legal will take place on 22 April at 6pm.

Cliff joined Lewis Silkin LLP as a Partner in April 2006 and is part of the team spearheading the Media and Entertainment sector for the firm. He acts for some of the world’s largest names in mobile, brands, recorded music, mobile, live music, radio, audio-visual production and online.

During the masterclass, Cliff will delve into the most common queries when it comes to the law and podcasts.  He’ll talk about everything you want to know, and the things you really need to know – that you didn’t even realise you needed to know about!

Topics covered will include protecting your ideas, responsibility, permissions, considering different laws across the world, ethics, insurance, using music and clips, fair usage, GDPR, freedom of speech, regulators and contracts.

There will also be an opportunity to put questions to Cliff and the team too.
