Scott Mills and Rylan Clark are taking their hit podcast Pop Top 10 on the road for the first time, recording a special live episode in Chelmsford ahead of Radio 2 in the Park.
The feel-good series sees the pair debate and rank the biggest tracks, artists, and iconic pop culture moments to create their ultimate Pop Top 10.
This time, they’ll be joined by a secret VIP guest as they reveal and rank their favourite pop songs in front of an audience at Chelmsford Theatre on Tuesday 2 September.
Tickets to the event have now all gone but the episode will be available on BBC Sounds from Wednesday 3 September and will also air on Radio 2 on Saturday 6 September from 1am to 2am.
Fans can expect plenty of laughter, behind-the-scenes stories, pop gossip, and the kind of on-stage chemistry that has made the show such a hit.
Scott said: “I’m so excited to take Pop Top 10 out of the studio and into the theatre! Rylan and I have so much fun recording this podcast and it will be amazing to have the lovely Radio 2 listeners with us!”
Rylan added: “Pop Top 10 is coming to Essex! Scott and I always have such a laugh doing this podcast so we can’t wait to welcome you all in.”
The live recording is part of the build-up to BBC Radio 2 in the Park, which runs from 5 to 7 September at Hylands Park in Chelmsford. The event follows last year’s debut in Preston and will feature a host of live shows and special broadcasts from the city.
Helen Thomas, Head of Radio 2, said: “Radio 2 has always been proud to take the station out and about across the UK, and these events in Chelmsford in the run up to Radio 2 in the Park provide a wonderful extra opportunity to shine a spotlight on the city and for our star presenters to meet and connect with our listeners face-to-face.
“We are so excited to bring the full BBC Radio 2 experience to Essex in September and we can’t wait to celebrate with everyone.”
