The Simple English News Daily podcast has been downloaded five million times according to hosting platform Spreaker and a little more according to Chartable.
Simple English News Daily, also known as SEND7, is a 7-minute daily news update for those who are learning English or have it as a second language.
Each episode covers news from at least four continents with an aim to be unbiased and as neutral as possible.
SEND7 was founded by Stephen Devincenzi in April 2020 and episodes are released Monday to Friday.
Stephen is the main host and Ben Mallett and Juliet Martin each host one episode a week.
SEND7 is totally independent and doesn’t receive external funding. It became profitable in mid-2022, through subscriptions and advertising. 10% of its profits go to effective altruism charities.
