Spitting Image returns with The Rest Is Bulls*!t video podcast

Spitting Image is back this autumn with a brand-new YouTube vodcast series titled Spitting Image: The Rest Is Bulls*!t.

A one-off teaser episode has been released today on the official Spitting Image YouTube channel, giving fans their first glimpse at this new era of latex puppet satire.

The Rest Is Bulls*!t will deliver original short-form vodcast episodes designed for viewers wanting humour in these anxiety-inducing times!

The creators say that the new series won’t hold back, describing it as a no-holds-barred assault on politics, pop culture and media control. From The White House to Windsor, Putin to Paddington, the puppets will take aim at global leaders, celebrities and public figures in the style that made Spitting Image famous.

Today’s teaser episode includes Prince Harry attempting to “make a sh*t ton of money out of podcasting,” Paddington Bear revealing a taste for something other than marmalade, and a look at what really happened when Donald Trump called President Putin.

It also features Sir Keir Starmer alongside other “global U-turners,” and shows Ukrainian President Zelenskyy making a musical appeal to the US for continued support.

The new series will be creatively led by Al Murray and Matt Forde, writers of the critically acclaimed stage show Idiots Assemble: Spitting Image The Musical. The live show was praised as “shockingly funny” by the Evening Standard, while the Daily Telegraph gave it five stars for being “a barrel-load of offence-giving fun.”

Spitting Image originally ran for 18 series between 1984 and 1996, reaching over 15 million viewers at its peak.

In 2020 it returned on BritBox and ITV, achieving strong ratings and critical praise from across the political divide. Its YouTube content has achieved over 200 million views globally, with three number one trending videos.

The new YouTube series is produced by Avalon with Matt Stronge as producer and director. Executive producers are Richard Allen-Turner, Jon Thoday and Spitting Image co-creator Roger Law. Writers Al Murray and Matt Forde promise a series as disgusting and hard-hitting as fans remember.

The exact release date for Spitting Image: The Rest Is Bulls!t* has not yet been confirmed. Fans are encouraged to sign up to the Spitting Image YouTube channel and follow its official social media accounts to stay updated.
