Spotify has begun publishing weekly audiobook charts in the UK and US.
The new charts rank the most listened to audiobooks on the platform, giving users a clearer view of what titles are trending and gaining traction each week.
Available to both Free and Premium users, the charts sit within the Audiobooks hub in the Spotify app. Users can access them by tapping Search, selecting the Audiobooks tile and scrolling to the Dive deeper shelf, where the Top Audiobooks overall and by genre are listed.
Rankings are based on listening behaviour and engagement on Spotify, mirroring how the company compiles its Music and Podcast Charts. The lists will refresh weekly.
For publishers and authors, the move creates another discovery tool inside an increasingly competitive audio market.
Spotify says the aim is to help books reach new audiences and strengthen engagement, while giving listeners a reliable guide to what others are choosing.
Duncan Bruce, Director of Audiobook Partnerships and Licensing at Spotify, said: “As we’ve proven with Music and Podcasts Charts, when content is easier to access, discover, and enjoy, the demand grows.
“We are delighted to now bring that to audiobooks, to help provide even more ways for users, publishers, and authors to discover what’s trending on Spotify, and make books more connected with culture in real time.”
The launch follows further audiobook features introduced by Spotify, including Page Match, which allows users to sync their place between a print or e-book and the audiobook version, and Recaps, short audio summaries designed to remind listeners what they have already heard.
