The Irish Podcast Awards announce 2022 nominations
It’s Bressie versus Blindboy, the Tommy, Hector & Laurita versus The 2 Johnnies as Ireland’s favourite podcasters go head to head at the inaugural Irish Podcast Awards.
Blindboy Boatclub, David McWilliams, and The Good Glow lead the charge with four nominations each. Close behind them is The Tommy, Hector and Laurita Podcastand true crime documentary The Witness with three nominations each. This year’s ceremony will be held in Dublin’s Liberty Hall on 16 September 2022.
The public vote has now opened for the Listeners’ Choice, where podcast listeners have until Sunday 11 September to vote at theirishpodcastawards.ie/vote.
Matt Deegan from the Irish Podcast Awards says: “We are delighted with the volume and quality of all the entrants this year! 2022 was an incredible year for Podcasting and we hope our nominees showcase the broad range of talent in the industry today. It’s fantastic to see the calibre of Irish podcasting improving every single year.”
The 2022 nominee list is packed with both household names and hidden gems, from Ireland’s most recognisable voices in Pat Kenny and Mario Rosenstock to rising stars Andrew McGovern and Aideen Finnegan.
Among the 27 categories are awards for Arts and Culture, Health and Wellbeing, Creativity, and a special category for Industry Newcomers, as well as the Listeners’ Choice category – a free public vote – where listeners can vote for any Irish podcast.
The IPA judges come from all walks of life across the Irish audio and media sector along with podcast companies from all over the world. The judging panel was chaired by Broadcaster Angela Scanlon.
Tickets for the Irish Podcast Awards go on sale on Monday 1 August, and the ceremony will be held at Liberty Hall on Friday 16 September.
