The Lost Tapes of History podcast launches season two

This week sees the release of episode one of season two of the weekly podcast The Lost Tapes of History, for those who like their history lessons with a side order of humour.

Released by Since 79 Productions, this season will cover 35 Tudor personalities such as Shakespeare, Sir Francis Drake, Anne Boleyn and Mary Queen of Scots, each lasting less than 20 minutes. Episode one features Lambert Simnel and the Chef.

The podcast is based around an imaginary stack of audio tapes containing interviews and private conversations between personalities from history and some modern therapists, counsellors, officials and professionals just trying to do their job. Imagine eavesdropping and getting a glimpse of who they really were as human beings.

Dry content that was previously disregarded as ‘boring’, is packaged so it can be enjoyed in a different way by being delivered with a bit of humour. The Lost Tapes of History podcast intends to ignite a spark in listeners to want to investigate further, whether checking Wikipedia, reading a book or visiting a historic location to learn more.

Season one featured 37 English monarchs from King William I to King Edward VIII and ran from January to September 2021. It was one of only six shortlisted for a Production Award by the British Comedy Guide (BCG Pro Awards Starter Category) and entered the Top 300 Global History charts.

New episodes of The Lost Tapes of History Podcast can be downloaded every Tuesday from Apple Podcasts; Spotify; Google Podcasts; Amazon Music; Stitcher; Pocket Casts; TuneIn Radio; Player.fm; Podcast Addict; Overcast and Castbox.
