Twitter is acquiring podcast app Breaker

Breaker, the podcast app, is being acquired by Twitter and as a result will shut down its app and website next week.

On its blog, Breaker said: “Sadly, for us and our users, we’ll be shutting down Breaker on Friday, January 15th. This will allow us to focus on building what comes next.

“If your podcast is hosted on Breaker, it’s fairly straightforward to move to another platform. We truly hope you can find a new home for your podcast listening and hosting.”

It also stated that subscriptions can be transferred to another podcast listening app such as those offered by Apple Inc and Spotify.

Announcing that the Breaker team is joining Twitter, CEO Erik Berli said: “Here at Breaker, we’re truly passionate about audio communication and we’re inspired by the ways Twitter is facilitating public conversations for people around the world.

“We’re impressed by the entrepreneurial spirit at Twitter and enthusiastic about the new experiences that the team is creating.”
