UK podcasts feature across New York Festivals shortlist 2026

UK podcasts are among a wide range of global audio productions shortlisted for the 2026 New York Festivals Radio Awards.

Entries from more than 30 countries have reached the next stage, spanning podcasts, audiobooks, documentaries, music programming and news output, reflecting the growing role of podcasting within international audio storytelling.

Several UK podcast nominations appear across multiple categories. BBC World Service is shortlisted for The Global Jigsaw in the news podcast category, while BFBS is recognised for Sitrep in the same category.

Narrative and documentary podcast nominations include Crying Wolf from Chalk and Blade and The Poppy Day Bomb from The Times and Sunday Times, highlighting a mix of independent and established publishers.

Music podcast entries from the UK include Eras: Phil Collins by Cup and Nuzzle and Folk on Foot: Goblin Band in the City of London from Natalie Steed.

Comedy and culture categories also feature UK work. NonCensored from Lead Mojo is shortlisted in comedy, while The Cockney Yiddish Podcast from Rhubarb Rhubarb and Kate Moss presents David Bowie: Changeling from Zinc Media appear in culture and arts podcast categories.

The wider shortlist includes international productions linked to major names such as Pure Energy featuring Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney: Beatles And Beyond and Céline Dion: l’amour à D’eux, alongside podcast titles including 48 Hours: Post Mortem, Sea of Lies and Alternate Realities.

Audiobook categories also include UK-linked entries from Bloomsbury Publishing Plc and Penguin Random House UK.

The shortlist was selected by a Grand Jury of more than 100 audio professionals from 20 countries, with entries judged on production values, creativity, writing and overall impact.

Winners will be announced during the New York Festivals Storytellers Gala, which takes place virtually on 21 May.
