Wondery adds four original series to its slate of sports podcasts

Wondery is adding to it’s sports line-up by rolling out a new title each month starting from August.

The first is Sports Explains the World, a co-production with Meadowlark Media, the content studio founded by former ESPN President John Skipper and leading sports personality Dan Le Batard, and Campside, releasing 9 August.

This is followed by Beadle Royale with top sports and NBA commentator Michelle Beadle; an untitled Shea Serrano basketball podcast from the best-selling author and TV writer focused on the NBA and pop culture; and lastly, Makin’ Waves with longtime sports authority Trey Wingo.

Sports Explains the World is an anthology documentary series that aims to tell compelling stories about the world and society through a sports lens.

Beadle Royale is a quick hitting, last-topic-standing audio “battle royale” of ballsy sports and pop culture takes.

The untitled Shea Serrano basketball podcast is a new weekly podcast series covering everything basketball and pop culture related for his passionate following of hoops fans.

Makin’ Waves is a weekly podcast identifying a different wave-making “what if?” moment in sports history and unpack its far-reaching ripple effects.

Marshall Lewy, Chief Content Officer, Wondery said: “Sports is one of the biggest categories that podcast listeners want, and this is a home run roster of shows.

“We have award-winning storytelling about the world of sports, along with sports talk shows that will get fans going, with some of the most talented sports personalities and partners in the game. We couldn’t be prouder of this group of shows.”
