6 Music programme featuring Marianne Faithfull now on BBC Sounds

As a tribute to the late Marianne Faithfull, BBC Sounds has made available a 6 Music programme featuring her which was first broadcast in 2011.

This follows the death of the 60s icon who sadly passed away at the age of 78. A spokesperson confirmed on Thursday that she had died in London surrounded by her family.

6 Music’s The First Time With…Marianne Faithfull is presented by Matt Everitt, who leads Marianne through a warm, engaging look at her career, which saw her work with many great musicians, including David Bowie, Blur and PJ Harvey.

Marianne discusses the music she grew up with, including Chuck Berry and The Everly Brothers – and the way it influenced her solo work.

She also covers her forays into country music, her love of jazz and explains why she received a credit on the Rolling Stones’ song, Sister Morphine.

The First Time With…Marianne Faithfull is available on BBC Sounds now.
