A new true crime podcast has been launched by the California Innocence Project.
The California Innocence Project is a not-for-profit organisation which provides pro-bono legal services to help wrongfully convicted individuals.
Hosted by prominent criminal justice reform advocate Michael Semanchik, the new series will feature real-life and intimate thought-provoking stories from exonerees like Amanda Knox, Uriah Courtney, former American football player Brian Banks and many more.
Famous attorneys and media personalities featured in acclaimed documentaries such as Making a Murderer, The Staircase and the Survivors Guide to Prison will also feature in the podcast.
The United States has the largest prison system in the world, and California has the largest prison system in the United States.
The California Innocence Project receives more than 6000 pieces of mail each year. The team reviews 2000 cases a year – resulting in the exoneration of 27 so far, bringing justice to those wronged by the system.
Clio, a legal technology company, has partnered with the Innocence Project providing free legal practice software to accelerate the team’s workflow, streamline processing and ultimately enable the team to review more cases faster.
Episode one of the California Innocence Project: A Wrongful Conviction Podcast is available now on Legal Talk Network and all major podcast providers including Spotify, Apple, Google, and Amazon Music.
