Rock N Roll Politics with Steve Richards is a unique podcast which places current political dramas in context.
Political commentator, author and broadcaster, Steve’s approach is different to other high-profile podcasts covering the world of Westminster and beyond, because of the unique relationship he has developed with his listeners – the Rock N Roll Politics Co-operative.
There are two programmes each week, the first begins with a question based on recent political events.
Steve then seeks to place the subjects raised within their historical and global contexts and opens up a discussion with listeners. The two-way open, co-operative and conversational discussions often lead to enlightening and surprising results.
The second programme also includes news making interviews with those with their own inside perspective into the events making the headlines.
Recent topics covered include who owns freedom, how did Boris Johnson last as long as he did and what makes a bully? Guests have included historian Anthony Seldon, former Secretary of State for Scotland Douglas Alexander and The Guardian’s Ireland correspondent and the author of Killing Thatcher Rory Carroll.
The Rock N Roll Politics podcasts are accompanied by The Rock ‘n Roll Politics Live Show, which has regular dates at Kings Place in London and plays at venues across the country, including a two week run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. Following a similar format to the podcasts, no two live shows are ever the same.
Steve is one of Britain’s leading political commentators and broadcasters. He has written columns for The Guardian, The Independent, The Financial Times and The Sunday Times.
He is a presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Week in Westminster and has presented BBC Radio 4 series on all recent Prime Ministers. He has also presented an award-winning BBC TV series on Modern Prime Ministers and Leadership and is a regular commentator on the BBC and SKY.
Rock N Roll Politics with Steve Richards is available on most podcast platforms including Apple and Spotify.
