Hello, Puzzlers is marking the USA’s National Puzzle Day with a one off live streamed show for listeners.
Taking place on Thursday 29 January at 7pm ET (Friday 30 January at 12am GMT), the podcast will bring together comedy, wordplay and brain teasing for a shared celebration aimed at puzzle fans watching from home.
The event will be hosted by A J Jacobs, the New York Times bestselling author, alongside the show’s Chief Puzzle Officer Greg Pliska, with both creating themed puzzles designed specifically for the live audience experience rather than the regular podcast format.
They will be joined by a guest line up with comedy and puzzle credentials, including comedian and MondayPunday creator Matthew Broussard, Reality Escape Pod hosts David Spira and Peih Gee Law, and Puzzle Day founder Jodi Jill, all taking part in the interactive challenge.
Hello, Puzzlers is released three times a week and is aimed at listeners who enjoy what the show describes as a “fast, funny mental break”, with each episode built around custom puzzles ranging from anagrams and riddles to lateral thinking trivia.
The podcast has attracted a wide mix of guests since launch, welcoming well-known names from the worlds of entertainment, publishing and quizzing, including Ken Jennings, Gretchen Rubin, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Dax Shepard.
A J Jacobs is known for taking unusual ideas and exploring them with curiosity and humour, with books including The Year of Living Constitutionally, Thanks a Thousand and Drop Dead Healthy, all of which have reached the New York Times bestseller list.
Greg Pliska is a long-established puzzle creator whose work has appeared across major titles and large scale puzzle events, including contributions to New York Times Puzzle Mania and the city’s high profile mega puzzle hunts.
Together, Jacobs and Pliska have collaborated on puzzle hunts, books, live challenges and games, building a loyal audience that enjoys both the intellectual challenge and the light-hearted tone of their work.
The livestream will be available on YouTube, with Hello, Puzzlers continuing to publish regular episodes across major podcast platforms for listeners who want more brain teasing beyond the live event.
