Fern Brady and Alison Spittle are launching a brand-new podcast, Ignore That Feeling.
The new show reunites Brady and Spittle in a deliberately unstructured format that rejects themes, rules and emotional responsibility.
They describe the podcast as a space with no boundaries, built around unfiltered conversations between two ex-Catholic women who were never taught how to process their emotions and have no intention of starting now.
Each episode promises loose, sharp-tongued discussions where nothing is off the table. The conversations lean into the uncomfortable, the absurd and the deeply repressed, with weekly episodes designed to be as chaotic and cathartic as they are candid.
Topics range widely and unpredictably, including class, artificial intelligence and German philosophers, alongside reality television, noughties boybands and Lily Allen’s West End Girl.
The format relies on the pair’s long-standing friendship, allowing them to push, prod and derail one another in real time.
Fern said: “It’s been 4 years since Alison and I podcasted together so this return is long overdue. No one makes me laugh like her. I’m so excited to see how it’ll be received by our audience and look forward to hearing from them in our WhatsApps!”
Alison added: “Fern Brady is my favourite comedian and person, so to do a podcast with her is an absolute delight. I’m looking forward to the podcast we make together, but most of all, the friends we make along the way – i.e. her. My friend.”
Brady is a bestselling author and Taskmaster fan favourite. Her memoir Strong Female Character, released in 2023, explored her Catholic upbringing, experiences of homelessness and late autism diagnosis.
She has appeared on Live at the Apollo, 8 Out of 10 Cats and Frankie Boyle’s New World Order, and released her Netflix stand up special Autistic Bikini Queen in 2023, which reached the UK Top Ten in its first week.
Spittle is an award-winning screenwriter, actress and touring comedian. She is co-creator and co-presenter of BBC Sounds podcast Wheel of Misfortune, a regular co-host of The Guilty Feminist and creator of The Alison Spittle Show.
Her TV series Nowhere Fast aired on RTÉ2, BBC America and Stan Australia, while her BBC Radio 4 series Petty Please airs soon.
Ignore That Feeling is produced by Plosive and launches on Tuesday 10 February, with new episodes released weekly, available to listen to across all major podcast platforms.
The podcast is hosted by Acast and will also be released as fully visualised episodes on YouTube.
